A family BUSINESS

We may have been in business for a few years but The Cotswold Fruit Company Ltd. is still a small company and is still owned and managed by David Lindgren, who swapped a career in the drinks industry for something more rewarding. We picked our first apples in September 2015 and sold our first cider in April 2016. Since then we’ve slowly and steadily grown the business and enlarged the portfolio of products we make, but have held firm to the guiding principle that we will ONLY use UNSPRAYED fruit from LOCAL TRADITIONAL ORCHARDS and GARDENS. We have also expanded our work into planning, planting and maintaining orchards and woodland, which now keeps us busy from the time harvest ends and before the cider is ready to be blended and bottled the following spring.

David Lindgren, is orchardist and cider-maker, including picker of fruit, miller and presser of apples, orchestrator of bottling and of procurement, of sales and marketing (such as it is) as well as of financial matters. He is ably assisted in the milling and pressing of fruit and in the bottling of apple juice by the Brabbins brothers, Alex and Leo; there may not be a colder barn in Gloucestershire, but they press on, regardless. Martin Hayes, sage and orchardist, helps to pick tonnes of apples each autumn and provides invaluable assistance in all sorts of ways throughout the year.

David’s family have also been known to “help”, from time to time … although the helpfulness of using a pallet truck as either chariot or battering ram isn’t yet immediately apparent. Nevertheless, their presence at the barn and in orchards is generally welcomed.

Holding this motley collection together is Pippi the Dog, motivator, therapist and companion, without whom not a lot would be achieved and we'd all be a lot less happy.

Welcome to our team.
